After a long layover in Jakarta, we finally arrived in Palembang, where we were warmly greeted by the Vice Dean, lecturers, and fellow SEA Teacher participants holding a large banner. As a welcoming gesture, they presented us with traditional headdresses which made us feel an instant connection to the local culture.

Once we arrived at our accommodation, we were encouraged to rest and have a meal before heading to the welcoming ceremony at Universitas Sriwijaya. During the ceremony, their students surprised us by singing Filipino songs.

The following day, we had a welcoming party and orientation at Cipta Kreatif Bangsa. We met the School Head, who introduced the school’s vision and focus on student-centered learning. After the orientation, we were grouped with teachers for a casual meet-and-greet, and their warmth made us feel right at home. We also toured the school, seeing classrooms, facilities, and even bathrooms, all thoughtfully designed with students’ comfort in mind.
